Founded in 1949, the League operates the leading no-kill animal shelter and adoption center in the Tri-State area. Its mission is to reduce the number of homeless cats and dogs in Greater Cincinnati by providing a compassionate, no-kill shelter and programs that promote responsible pet care. We are looking for a part-time Weekend Animal Adoption Counselor (focused on superior customer service) to join our team of animal lovers! Summary Animal Adoption Counselors at the League, play a vital role in connecting animals with loving homes. This position involves working directly with potential adopters to facilitate successful adoptions while promoting our mission of responsible pet care. Responsibilities Assist potential adopters in selecting suitable dogs or cats based on their lifestyle and preferences. Greet visitors and answer phones. Socialize animals through enrichment plans. Manage the adoption process, including paperwork and follow-up communications. Participate in dog play groups. Perform canine meet & greets. Respond to online inquiries and assist in creating social media posts. Requirements Proven customer service skills, be friendly, self-motivated and able to handle multiple people, phone lines and tasks at the same time. Comfortable handling both dogs & cats with any temperaments and without assistance. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with potential adopters. Hours are Saturday and Sunday 9:30am-5:30pm. Additional hours available in late Summer through Fall to cover for parental leave. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment Must be able to lift 50 lbs, at least 18 years old, bend, kneel, walk strong dogs, sit for long periods and pass a background and drug test. Compassionate attitude towards animals and commitment to their welfare. Compensation is $15-$16/hour depending on experience.
