Dog Enrichment Coordinator

Job Description

Are you an animal lover? Would you like to work with dogs every day? If so, please read on! As our Enrichment Coordinator, you are vital to the operations of our company! Your main priority is to provide a fun, challenging and growth-oriented environment for our dogs. You will be keeping each pet active and engaged, both mentally and physically, during their daycare visits. This is an amazing opportunity for an individual looking to learn more about animal behavior, development and training. When pet parents bring their dogs in, you will engage in a conversation with them to get an idea of their specific needs. As you work with each pet, you will get to know them and their behaviors and fine-tune your training methods and activities accordingly. Are you patient? Previous dog training experience is preferred, but not required as we'll train the right individual. •The Basics •Working with clients and their pets from Monday through Saturday, approx. 25 - 40 hours per week. Patience, empathy and awareness will be needed in this role. Much of the day is on your feet with dogs under your feet, being able to react quickly is needed. You will receive on-the-job training that includes puppy socialization, dog body language, reinforcing good play skills, proper dog communication, positive reinforcement training and basic learning theory. •The Responsibilities •Provide a safe and positive learning environment for the dogs, enabling them to have critical enrichment and social engagement. Assist with training the dogs on the basics based on our training plans. You will collaborate with other team members to provide enrichment activities and desensitization within our space. Cleaning up after the dogs in real time (dog urine and feces). Setting up and breaking down before & after sessions. This includes cleaning and disinfecting the play areas, preparing snacks, cleaning food toys each day and doing laundry. Assist with social media by gathering content (photos & videos) Crafting Daily/Weekly pet report progress, documenting/communicating issues and training needs. •The Requirements •2+ years of experience in the pet care industry preferred. The majority of tasks assigned will require you to stand on your feet for several hours per day, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, twist, walk up and down stairs; handle extra small and/or large dogs, and be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Capable of working in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment with barking, distractions and general noise. Detail oriented, have the ability to multi-task, deal with starting and stopping tasks due to the meeting of puppy needs. Exposure to solvents, disinfectant, sanitation chemicals, dog dander, saliva, urine, feces, sharp puppy teeth, and nails can and will come in contact with hands, skin, and clothing. Previous customer service experience and capability of communicating with clients, staff, and vendors in both written and spoken English. Comfort working with little supervision and as well as collaborating when needed. Patience and empathy while working with dogs/puppies and guiding them to learn. Ability to be flexible with added additional tasks as needed. Reliable transportation & Class C Oregon Driver's License for driving as needed.
