//www.texasruffhouse.com/now-hiring This position is focused primarily on weekday midday dog walking for established clients within a designated service area. Our clients trust us to provide dependable, professional care while they are at work, and many of the dogs on our schedules rely on us for daily exercise, enrichment, and a much-needed break in their day. This is not a casual gig or an occasional side job. We are looking for someone who wants to become a consistent and trusted member of our professional pet care team and can commit to regular weekday availability. Texas Ruff House is a premium, team-based pet care company. Our team members are trained pet care professionals who follow established safety protocols, communicate thoughtfully with clients, and provide engaging, individualized care for every pet. What You'll Do As a Professional Dog Walker, you will: Provide safe, engaging dog walks and enrichment visits during weekday midday hours. Confidently handle dogs of all sizes, breeds, energy levels, and personalities , including large and strong dogs. Walk outdoors in Texas weather while maintaining safe, attentive care. Follow each dog's individual care instructions, walking routines, behavioral considerations, and safety protocols. Use positive handling techniques and reinforce appropriate leash manners during walks. Observe pets closely for changes in behavior, mobility, appetite, health, or overall well-being. Write thoughtful, professional visit reports and take quality photos so clients can feel connected to their pets while away. Communicate promptly and professionally with the Texas Ruff House team. Manage your assignments and travel between client homes efficiently so visits are completed on time. Physical Requirements Dog walking is active, physical work. Successful team members must be comfortable: Walking several miles throughout a shift. Spending extended periods outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions. Handling large, energetic, or strong dogs safely. Maintaining control of dogs that may pull, become excited, or react to distractions in the environment. Bending, kneeling, reaching, and moving comfortably while caring for pets. Getting in and out of a vehicle repeatedly and driving between client homes throughout the shift. Safely lifting and carrying pet-related supplies when needed. Who We're Looking For You may be a great fit if you are: Dependable. Dogs and clients are counting on you to show up as scheduled. Committed. You are looking for consistent work rather than a temporary or short-term gig. Physically active. You genuinely enjoy walking, being outdoors, and staying on the move. Confident with dogs. You are comfortable working with dogs beyond your own pets, including large and energetic breeds. Safety-minded. You stay aware of your surroundings and make thoughtful decisions when handling animals. Detail-oriented. You notice changes, follow instructions carefully, and understand that small details matter. Independent. You are comfortable working on your own and know how to use training, SOPs, client records, and other resources to solve problems. A strong communicator. You can write warm, professional client updates and communicate clearly with your team. Team-oriented. Although much of your work is performed independently, you understand that you are part of a larger professional pet care team. Preferred Experience Professional pet care experience is helpful, but we also value transferable experience and the right attitude. Strong candidates may have experience in: Dog daycare or boarding Veterinary clinics Animal shelters or rescues Dog training or animal behavior Other physically active, outdoor, or service-based positions Most importantly, you should be dependable, coachable, physically capable, comfortable with dogs, and committed to learning our standards of care. Why Texas Ruff House? At Texas Ruff House, dog walking is more than clipping on a leash and going around the block. We provide professional, enrichment-focused pet care designed around each pet's individual needs. Our clients expect a high level of reliability, communication, safety, and attention to detail, and we give our team the training and support necessary to deliver it. You'll join an established local company with a team that takes pet care seriously while still enjoying one of the best parts of the job: spending your day helping dogs live happier, healthier, more enriched lives. If you're looking for consistent weekday work, enjoy being active outdoors, and want to become a trusted professional in the lives of pets and their families, we'd love to hear from you.
