Refuge Services, Inc. is a Christian, equine-assisted therapy nonprofit seeking dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as Horse Handlers and Therapeutic Riding Instructors on a part-time basis (approximately 10 hours per week). This opportunity is ideal for someone with solid horsemanship skills who enjoys working with people, aligns with our core values, and is passionate about making an impact through equine-assisted therapy. Position Overview Part-time role (approximately 10 hours per week) Flexible scheduling options (Monday-Thursday primarily) On-site training provided Bonus opportunities available for PATH-certified instructors Primary Responsibilities Safely handle horses during therapy sessions and riding lessons Assist with session preparation, lesson support, and implementation Provide daily care including feeding and general horse maintenance Observe horse behavior and ensure appropriate use in sessions Collaborate with the treatment team during client assessments Complete all required documentation accurately and on time Attend scheduled meetings, trainings, and staffings Assist with special programs, events, and workshops as needed Communicate promptly with leadership regarding any safety concerns or incidents Respond to client needs with professionalism, empathy, and composure Represent the mission and values of Refuge Services to clients, families, volunteers, and staff Qualifications & Desired Skills Strong horsemanship background, especially in structured or program settings Comfortable working with children, individuals with special needs, and diverse populations Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Professional appearance and personal hygiene Ability to think critically and make sound decisions Calm and effective under pressure or in high-stress situations Positive attitude and team-oriented approach Genuine desire to serve others and contribute meaningfully CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
