Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and welfare, ensuring that all pets in our facility receive the highest level of attention and care. This role involves working closely with dogs and cats of all sizes, as well as occasionally Guniea pigs, rabbits, and other small creatures, providing them with a safe, loving, and clean environment, and assisting with their daily needs. You will feed them, let them out, play with them, and clean up accidents. Hours are typically 6am-2pm or 5pm-7pm, with you occasionally being required to do both sets of rounds, especially on slower days or in the winter. You will work weekends often, as well as most Mondays and Thursdays. Holidays are also required, however we split up hours so you don't have to work all day those days. Please do not apply if you dont love animals and aren't ready to work hard to take care of them! Duties Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, watering, and exercising dogs and other pets. Maintain cleanliness in the kennel area by cleaning stalls, kennels, and common areas. Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to the management immediately. Assist in grooming pets as needed, including bathing if needed, however this typically isnt needed often. (We are not hiring groomers) Handle animals safely and use common sense and our training to keep yourself and our animals safe. Conduct tours of our facility, as well as well as check in clients and return their calls. Book client appointments daily either in person or by phone. We start you at $14/hr for while you're in training, which typically lasts two to three weeks. Immediately upon finishing training you'll automatically be given a raise to $18/hr. This time is also for you to decide if you enjoy the job and for us to decide if you are a good fit. Requirements Previous experience is nice but not necessary. Feel free to apply with no prior experience! Ability to lift heavy loads (up to 50 pounds) short distances when carrying dog food or cat litter as well as work on your feet for long periods of time, as well as stoop, lift, and bend dozens of times per day. Strong communication skills to interact with our clients, including giving tours of our facilities and returning calls A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their well-being is an •absolute must•!
