As a Cremator Operator , you serve as a compassionate and trustworthy intermediary for grieving pet owners and veterinary partners. Infused with empathy, you are responsible for the dignified, respectful, and ethical handling of deceased pets throughout the entire aftercare process. Key Responsibilities Collection & Transportation:

Provide courteous, punctual, and dignified pick-up and delivery services for deceased pets from veterinary practices, clinics, shelters, and private residences. Securely operate the company vehicle while ensuring the utmost care and respect for each pet.

Identification, Tracking & Documentation:

Oversee accurate tagging and identification of all pets within the refrigeration storage facility. Meticulously track each pet's progress through the cremation process using software systems and maintain accurate operational and equipment performance logs via computer (Windows, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel).

Cremation Operations:

Safely operate the crematory unit in strict compliance with State regulations, Department of Health Division of Cemetery/Crematory laws, and OSHA safety standards. Execute tasks including starting, loading, monitoring, and unloading the cremator unit, as well as performing essential maintenance.

Memorialization & Processing:

Craft special memorial items (such as clay paw prints or fur clippings) prior to cremation. Process cremated remains with care and dignity, ensuring the metal ID disc and appropriate paperwork accompany the remains, and carefully place them with memorabilia into designated bags. Explain memorial offerings effectively to clients when required.

Facility & Equipment Maintenance:

Uphold exceptional cleanliness standards in the refrigeration, cremation, and processing areas, ensuring they remain entirely free of animal or other waste. Assist in maintaining a well-kept facility by performing light cleaning, groundskeeping, repairs, and equipment service.

Client Interaction & Compassion:

Interact with the public, co-workers, and veterinary professionals in a respectful, trustworthy, and compassionate manner. Develop and maintain strong relationships with veterinary partners to deliver excellent customer service.

Communication & Teamwork:

Maintain open communication with the Office Manager, promptly notifying them of any operational matters. Support board policies, collaborate positively with team members and volunteers, and share innovative ideas to enhance service quality. You review daily schedules and use a computer to log tracking and operational details. You may start by conducting dignified pet pickups from veterinary partners or private clients, securely transporting them back in the company vehicle. At the facility, you meticulously manage the refrigeration storage, craft personalized memorial items like clay paw prints, and operate the crematory unit with strict adherence to safety protocols. Throughout the day, you process cremated remains, maintain immaculate sanitation standards across the facility, and communicate smoothly with the office staff. Whether assisting with facility upkeep or ensuring every detail of a pet's aftercare is honored, your day concludes knowing you have provided comfort, trust, and respect to grieving families. Qualifications Passion for

Animals:

Must be a genuine animal lover who is comfortable working with people and handling deceased pets and pet remains.

Experience & Education:

High school graduate or educational equivalent. Must be able to read, write, and speak clearly in English to follow written and verbal instructions. Prior experience in a medical, pet, veterinarian-related field, or after-care industry is desired.

Certification:

Obtaining a Crematory Operator Certification is a crucial qualification. You must successfully finish the online Certified Pet Crematory Operator program offered by

IAOPCC/CANA

within 90 days of employment (or three months of completing your initial probationary period).

Driving Record:

Must hold a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record, showcasing responsible and safe driving skills.

Physical Capabilities:

Physical fitness necessary to lift and transport pets of various sizes, and perform facility maintenance duties.

Interpersonal & Communication Skills:

Proven empathy, compassion, and sensitivity when communicating with grieving pet owners. Excellent teamwork and problem-solving abilities.

Technical Skills:

Familiarity with desktop or laptop computers, Windows environment, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel).
