Job Description

General Description:
Alaskan Memorial Park and Mortuary is seeking a compassionate and dependable individual to join our team as an on-call after hours Mortuary Support Driver. Responsible for the removal, transportation, and care of the deceased. In this role, you will respond to requests to transfer loved ones into the care of the funeral home. Calls may come from hospitals, private residences, nursing homes, or scenes of passing. This position requires professionalism, sensitivity, and the ability to provide respectful care at all times. The right candidate will have the ability to lift, pull or carry up to 75lbs. Support drivers must be willing to work a week on, week off rotation, answering and respond to calls. On call hours are Monday through Friday 5PM -7AM, Saturday and Sunday all day. Driver's license and reliable transportation to the funeral home are required. Must have the ability to drive and maneuver the large company van as well as professional attire during calls.
Pay:
$100 to $125 per removal completed.
Job Responsibilities:
Responds for the removal of decedents at place of death. Respond to after-hours, on-call removal and transportation requests. Cooperates with first responders, hospitals, or nursing home staff to accommodate their processes and procedures. Support cases involving the Medical Examiner's Office when needed. Assist with removals from hospitals, residences, nursing homes, and other locations. Verifies proper identification of the deceased, collection of any paperwork, and personal effect. For in-home removals, displays courteous and professional interactions with bereaved families, and transports decedent to the funeral homes or appropriate facility. Safely operate and maintain company vehicles, including a large van. Vehicle upkeep includes fueling and stocking personal protective equipment and removal supplies. If hired, employee must be willing to remove piercings and/or cover tattoos while working. Present a professional appearance during all calls. Qualifications Compassionate, reliable, and professional demeanor Valid Alaska state driver's license with copy of driving record Reliable transportation to and from the funeral home Ability to drive and maneuver large company vehicles Ability to lift, pull, or carry up to 75lbs Willingness to work a week-on/week-off rotation Must be able to work in a drug-free workplace
Education:
High school Diploma or Equivalent Wear professional attire during calls.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Strong organization, prioritization, and communication skills Competently driving safely in all Alaskan weather conditions in all seasons Displays compassion and integrity Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team Compassionate, reliable, and professional demeanor Valid driver's license Reliable transportation to and from the funeral home Ability to drive and maneuver large company vehicles Ability to lift, pull, or carry up to 75lbs Willingness to work a week-on/week-off rotation No prior industry experience required; training will be provided Must be able to work in a drug-free workplace
Physical Requirements:
