Job Description

Serving all faiths and cultures, Forest Lawn's Funeral Service Department is responsible for ensuring that every funeral exceeds the expectations of the families we serve. Whether a traditional funeral service or a completely individualized ceremony is chosen, our goal is to accommodate those we serve and be a professional guide and provide support throughout the service selected. What You'll Be Doing Represent Forest Lawn in a courteous and professional manner. Uphold and exceed client families' expectations for funeral services. Understand the need for and maintain confidentiality of all family information. Provide parking assistance and directions for guests and families. Accept, transport, and set up flower arrangements at services and gravesites. Distribute memory folders, prayer cards, tissues, water, etc., as directed. Provide clean up and housekeeping duties before and after the completion of services. Assist in conducting services with a complete understanding of funeral practices, Forest Lawn procedure, and certain legal requirements. Use Service Sheet, Director's Papers, and other resources available. Understand and identify service needs, reporting deficiencies to Assistant Director and Service Director. Provide casket bearing directions to families at services or assist with bearing as necessary. Contribute to maintaining clean and presentable facilities and grounds. Review permits for accuracy, accept appropriate contract payments at services as necessary. Perform cleaning and cosmetic maintenance of professional vehicles, reporting repair items as necessary. Confirm decedent identification verification in preparation for transportation and services. Transport decedents as necessary. Operate all Funeral Service-related vehicles and equipment. Assist in training new employees as necessary on safe operating practices. Attend all required safety, employee, and other associated meetings. Perform basic military flag folding with assistance from Service Director. Complete a comprehensive written account of each funeral service, submitted on the same day as services. Occasional hands-on contact with decedent as needed.
