This role is accountable for staff leadership, family service, regulatory compliance, financial performance, facility standards, and community relationships while ensuring compassionate, professional service. Essential Functions and Competencies Business and Financial Management Develop and execute location plans, budgets, revenue goals, and expense controls in partnership with market leadership. Review financial and operating results, identify trends, and take action to improve performance, efficiency, and service. Manage purchasing, invoices, staffing costs, overtime, and other controllable expenses within established guidelines. Operations and Compliance Direct daily funeral home operations, staffing, schedules, workflow, and resources to ensure timely, consistent service. Maintain compliance with applicable laws, regulations, licensing requirements, and Company policies and procedures. Ensure required records, authorizations, documentation, and operational controls are complete and accurate. Oversee facility, grounds, equipment, and vendor needs to maintain a safe, professional, and welcoming environment. Resolve escalated family or customer concerns promptly, professionally, and with appropriate sensitivity. Family Service and Funeral Operations Support or conduct arrangements and funeral services as business needs and licensing requirements permit. Ensure families receive clear information about available services, merchandise, benefits, and service options. Coordinate funeral, memorial, burial, and cremation activities to meet family wishes and operational standards. Leadership and People Development Lead, coach, schedule, and develop location staff; communicate expectations and hold the team accountable for service and performance standards. Participate in recruiting, selection, onboarding, performance management, and employee development. Build a collaborative, respectful team culture focused on accountability, compassion, and continuous improvement. Community and Business Development Represent the funeral home professionally in the community and develop relationships that support the location and families served. Identify opportunities to improve services, strengthen community presence, and support sustainable business growth. Required Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required; funeral service or mortuary science education preferred. Five (5) years of funeral service industry experience with increasing responsibility. Prior experience leading employees and managing day-to-day operations required. Experience with budgeting, financial performance, expense control, and business operations preferred. Funeral Director license required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong leadership, business judgment, financial acumen, organization, and problem-solving skills. Compassionate and professional communication with families, employees, vendors, and community partners. Ability to manage competing priorities, make sound decisions, and maintain accuracy in a time-sensitive environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn Company systems, including HMIS, ADP, and Passare. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and on-call schedules as business needs require. Work Environment Work is performed primarily in a professional funeral home and office environment, with occasional outdoor duties and travel as business needs require. Physical Demands The position may require standing, walking, and working indoors or outdoors during services and other operational activities.
