Apply Save Description Summary :
Washes clothes, bedding, bathroom pieces, linens and textiles by performing the following duties personally. Responsible for ensuring that all critical tasks are fulfilled on a timely basis.
Critical Tasks:
Operates all equipment safely and according to instructions. Notifies supervisor of equipment that is not operational in a safe and effective manner while removing such equipment from service when necessary for safety reasons. Reviews and complies with all care labels and washing instructions to ensure that proper procedures are followed while preserving the quality and usability of all laundered items. Collects and sorts clothing and other articles to be cleaned according to color, fabric, dirt content and cleaning technique required following all infection prevention and cleanliness standards while completely avoiding cross-contamination risks. Inspects all soiled articles to determine sources of stains and identifies items requiring special treatments. Sorts and counts all articles requiring cleaning to verify quantities on laundry lists. Notifies appropriate staff as to repetitive laundry issues that should be rectified at the clinic, unit, patient care, or resident service levels. Loads articles into washer and adds specified amount of detergent, soap, or other cleaning agent. Dissolves soap granules in hot water and steam to make liquid soap. Soaks contaminated articles in neutralizer solution in vat to precondition articles for washing. Mixes dyes and bleaches according to formula, and dyes and bleaches specified articles. Turns valve to fill washer with water. Starts machine that automatically washes and rinses articles. Lifts clean, wet articles from washer and places them successively into wringers and driers for measured time cycles. Sorts dried articles according to identification numbers or type and either folds or places articles on clothes hangers. Places articles in appropriate storage bin or location. Takes all steps necessary to ensure that all laundered items are free of stains, damages, and odors prior to delivery in finished form. Delivers laundered articles to proper patient/resident room or storage location. Keeps all work areas safe and highly organized. Monitors supplies to ensure available necessary laundry materials. Maintains a highly organized work style. Demonstrates ability to regularly change priorities to accomplish all tasks despite frequent interruptions. Demonstrates ability to clearly communicate, both orally and in writing, while performing all essential functions. Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED preferred. 1 year of commercial or industrial laundry experience preferred. Prior medical environment work experience preferred. Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse cultures and specifically the Gila River Community and/or other Native American cultures.
