JOB TITLE

Laundry Aide

REPORTS TO

Housekeeping Supervisor Responsible for performing the day-to-day activities and duties of the Laundry Department. Responsible for ensuring that the facility is maintained in a safe, clean, and sanitary manner.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Ensure that all cleaning scheduled are followed and any updates to the schedules are communicated appropriately. Coordinate and execute daily laundry services with nursing services when performing any assignments in resident living areas. Perform day-to-day laundry services, including collecting, sorting, and weighing sorted laundry as well as counting and washing all laundry. Organize and distribute clean laundry to all necessary areas of the facility. Attend all related safety, annual OSHA, and CDC in-service training programs for hazard communication, TB management, and bloodborne pathogens standard. Always follow established safety precautions and make any recommendations regarding policy improvements to the Housekeeping Supervisor. Ensure that established infection control and universal precautions practices are maintained when performing laundry services. Ensure adequate supply of laundry and linen supplies is maintained. Keep Housekeeping Supervisor advised of laundry supply needs. Report any and all accidents/incidents to the Housekeeping Supervisor immediately. Participate in continuous improvement activities. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent highly preferred. Experience in healthcare facility laundry or housekeeping highly preferred. Ability to work well in both a team-based environment and an independent manner. Must have the ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish this job. Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and multi-tasking skills required. Must be capable of performing the essential job functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Related administrative experience at a level necessary to accomplish the job. Must meet all local health regulations and pass post-employment physical exam, if required. This requirement also includes drug screening, criminal background investigation, and reference inquiry.
