Position Summary:

The overall purpose of the Laundry Attendant is to perform day-to-day laundry functions for our facility.

Qualification:

Laundry experience preferred, but not required. Ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively. Willingness to perform routines and repetitive tasks. Ability to operate small machinery. Ability to perform physical tasks and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Essential Functions:

Sorts soiled items requiring stain removal/treatment Washes garments and linens as necessary in an electrically powered washing machine. Places clothes in drum of washer and adjusts valves to admit water of proper temperature. Adds soap solution, starts drum rolling and stops machine after articles have been washed and rinsed. Transfers washed clothes from washer to dryer and to baskets for distribution. Cleans lint trap before every load dried Hangs finished garments on hangers or folds and stacks garments. Distributes clothes to resident's rooms. Press/iron garments as requested Reports unidentified articles of clothing to Environmental Supervisor in loss prevention. Keeps assigned work area clean, safe, comfortable, attractive and free of hazardous objects Maintain infection control and universal precautions when performing laundry procedures Ensure equipment is cleaned and properly maintained Wash hands routinely after contact with soiled items Report observations concerning equipment wear, defects and malfunctioning to supervisor Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
