Job Overview We are seeking an experienced, highly skilled Tailor/Seamstress to work on-site at our Dry Cleaners in Elmhurst, IL. The ideal candidate is a professional craftsman who takes pride in precision, quality workmanship, and excellent customer service. This position requires strong, well-rounded alteration experience across a variety of fabrics and styles in men's and women's suits, bridal and formalwear, as well as, in general alterations and repairs. The tailor will work directly with customers during fittings and measurements, so strong English verbal and clear written communication skills are required. You will bring garments to life through expert sewing, alterations, and garment construction, ensuring each piece meets our high standards of quality. Duties Perform clothing alterations and repairs with precision, including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, and resizing garments for optimal fit on time for quick turnaround Construct new garments from patterns using a variety of sewing machines and hand sewing techniques, focusing on both men's and women's wear tailoring Operate pressing machines and press garments to achieve crisp finishes and professional presentation Manage garment sewing projects from start to finish, ensuring proper stitching, seam integrity, and fabric handling Assist customers with clothing adjustments and provide expert advice on proper fit Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, including pressing stations and sewing areas Use basic math skills to measure fabric accurately, calculate seam allowances, and ensure precise garment construction Skills Proficiency in operating a variety of sewing machines, hand sewing techniques, pressing machines, and press operation techniques Strong knowledge of fabric materials, their properties, and appropriate handling methods Skilled in hand sewing for delicate or detailed work requiring finesse Deep understanding of garment construction principles for both men's and women's clothing Offer friendly customer service with active listening skills and the ability to communicate alteration advice clearly and effectively based on fabric choices and clothes construction Ability to perform basic math calculations for measurements, pattern adjustments, and fabric estimations Join us as an Experienced Tailor/Seamstress to craft exceptional clothing that elevates our customers' style while showcasing your expert craftsmanship.

Pay:
