Job Description

Sprinter Builder / Vehicle Upfitter — ATL Vans | Buford, GA We're not looking for someone to "fill a position." or someone just looking for a paycheck. We're looking for someone who can build. We take an empty Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and turn it into something completely different: executive offices, luxury passenger vehicles, shuttles, entertainment vehicles, and custom interiors that leave our shop looking like they came from a factory that doesn't exist. Some of these vehicles are featured in movies And somebody has to actually build them. That could be you.
CAN YOU BUILD?
?? Forget the perfect résumé. We care about what happens when we put a problem in front of you. Can you measure something once and install it correctly? Can you look at a crooked panel and be bothered by it? Can you figure out why something doesn't fit instead of immediately asking someone else what to do? Can you take a drawing or sometimes just an idea and turn it into something real? Can you work with your hands for eight hours and look back at the end of the day and see what you accomplished? Then keep reading.
WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO
You'll help take Sprinter vans from empty metal shells to finished vehicles. That means cutting, drilling, measuring, mounting, fabricating, assembling, wiring, fitting, adjusting and occasionally figuring out something we've never built before. You'll work on: Floors. Walls. Ceilings. Seats. Consoles. Partitions. TVs. Lighting. Audio. Cabinetry. Trim. Electrical components. Insulation. Sound deadening. Custom fabrication. Sometimes there won't be an instruction manual. That's part of the job.
WE DON'T CARE WHERE YOU LEARNED IT.
Maybe you built RVs. Maybe you installed car audio. Maybe you're a carpenter. Maybe you fabricated race cars. Maybe you worked on boats. Maybe you built cabinets. Maybe you're an electrician. Maybe you've been modifying cars in your garage since you were 16. We care less about where you learned to build and more about whether you can actually build. Show us.
THERE IS ONE STANDARD
Would you put your name on it? If a panel is crooked, fix it. If a wire looks sloppy, reroute it. If something rattles, find out why. If something doesn't make sense, question it. If you make a mistake, own it and fix it. Don't wait for Quality Control to discover your work isn't good enough. You are the first Quality Control inspector.
THIS JOB PROBABLY ISN'T FOR YOU
IF... You need someone constantly telling you what to do next. You think "good enough" is good enough. You hide mistakes. You're regularly late. You spend more time explaining why something couldn't be done than figuring out how to do it. Or you believe moving slowly automatically means you're producing quality work. We want quality AND speed. The goal isn't to work fast. The goal is to become so good that you're fast.
WE WILL TEACH YOU OUR PROCESS.
You don't have to know everything about Mercedes-Benz Sprinters. You don't have to have a college degree. You don't need ten years of experience. But you need three things we can't install in you: Curiosity. Work ethic. Pride in what you build. Everything else can be developed.
THE CHALLENGE
If you apply, don't just tell us you're "hardworking." Everybody says that. Show us something you've built. A van. A cabinet. A sound system. A motorcycle. A kitchen. A boat. A piece of furniture. A wiring project. A car you've modified. Anything. Send us pictures or video and tell us: "I built this." Because at ATL Vans, we're not primarily hiring résumés. We're hiring builders.
Pay:
$17.35 - $30.52 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week Application Question(s): Show us something you actually built with your hands that was hard and why you're proud of it. What was the biggest challenge in building this and what did you learn in the process?
