Job Description

Overview Are you detail-oriented, patient, and interested in learning a unique skilled trade? Oakwood Cleaners is looking for a Wedding Gown Cleaning Specialist to train in the specialized care and cleaning of wedding gowns and other fine garments. No previous dry-cleaning experience is required. We are looking for the right person to train —someone who takes pride in careful work, enjoys working with their hands, and wants to develop a specialized skill. What You Will Learn Training will begin with simpler wedding gowns under the guidance and instruction of our Production Manager. You will learn how to inspect gowns, identify fabrics and embellishments, understand care labels and potential cleaning risks, and safely clean gowns using the appropriate processes and equipment. As your knowledge and skills develop, training will progress to more advanced areas, including: Wedding gown cleaning and finishing techniques Stain identification and professional spotting techniques Fabric and fiber identification Dry-cleaning processes and equipment Understanding cleaning chemistry and how different fabrics react Evaluating risks before cleaning Caring for increasingly delicate, embellished, designer, and specialty garments Our goal is to develop the right candidate into a knowledgeable Wedding Gown Cleaning Specialist capable of independently evaluating and caring for these very special garments. Career Path This job opportunity is designed to provide a path for continued growth as your skills and knowledge develop: Wedding Gown Cleaning Specialist Trainee → Wedding Gown Cleaning Specialist → Specialty Cleaning & Spotting Specialist Who We Are Looking For The ideal candidate is dependable, patient, observant, and extremely detail-oriented. You should be comfortable following precise instructions and understand that learning specialty garment care takes time and practice. Artistic ability, chemistry, sewing experience, textile knowledge, or experience working with your hands may be helpful, but none is required. What matters most is a willingness to learn, good judgment, attention to detail, and genuine pride in doing exceptional work. This is a job opportunity to develop a skill that few people know how to do well. Experience Prior experience in garment care/cleaning is a plus but not required Familiarity with pressing machines, hand sewing tools, and press operation is helpful. Experience working with various fabric materials such as silk, lace, satin, chiffon, and tulle is advantageous. Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow precise instructions for delicate garment care. Basic math skills for measurements and adjustments are necessary. Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude are essential for success in this role. Schedule The anticipated schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 2:00 PM to 8:00 or 9:00 PM. Hours will vary and might be less during training and could become fulltime once you can work independently. Hours will depend on the number of wedding gowns requiring cleaning and the availability of our Production Manager for hands-on training. This position is ideal for someone who has flexibility in the afternoon and evening and is interested in learning a specialized profession rather than simply finding another part-time job. Join us in delivering exceptional wedding gown care that transforms a bride's special day into an unforgettable memory!
