Surgical & Treatment Prep:
Prepare equine patients for field or standing surgical procedures, prep sterile injection sites, and maintain strict aseptic technique.
Diagnostic & Medical Equipment:
Safely set up, operate, clean, and maintain specialized diagnostic equipment, including digital radiography (DR), ultrasound units, and shockwave machines.
Ambulatory Rig & Inventory Management:
Keep ambulatory trucks fully stocked, organized, clean, and prepped for daily appointments; track supply usage and maintain pharmacy inventory logs in accordance with state guidelines.

Deliver professional, clear client communication and customer service during farm calls, assisting with patient discharge instructions and follow-up care guidelines. Competencies Strong foundational knowledge of equine anatomy, physiology, behavior, and veterinary terminology. High level of professionalism, positive demeanor, and strong interpersonal skills when interacting with trainers, owners, and barn managers. Exceptional organizational skills and detail-oriented record-keeping ability. Ability to think critically, anticipate the veterinarian's next step, and adapt quickly in dynamic barn or arena environments. Strong work ethic with a desire to learn, grow, and pursue continuing education. Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of one year of hands-on experience in equine veterinary medicine or professional equine management (training, barn management, or breeding facilities) required. Certification as a Veterinary Assistant (CVA) or equivalent veterinary tech training preferred. Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record (required for operating ambulatory vehicles). Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is a plus. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of working on your feet around horses in varied outdoor weather conditions across the Central Coast. Ability to comfortably and safely jog horses in hand on asphalt, dirt, or arena footing for veterinary lameness inspections. Ability to bend, kneel, squat, and regularly lift medical equipment, buckets, or supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.
