What You'll Do Safely restrain dogs and cats for exams, treatments, catheter placement, and diagnostics Support RVTs and doctors during triage, stabilization, and emergency procedures Take and record vital signs (TPR), weights, and patient observations Care for hospitalized patients: feeding, walking, cleaning, and monitoring comfort Assist with radiographs (with appropriate protective equipment) and lab sample handling Prepare surgical packs and clean and sterilize instruments Stock treatment areas, crash carts, and exam rooms Keep kennels, treatment areas, and the hospital clean and sanitized Help with client communication and patient admissions and discharges as needed Administer medications under supervision What We're Looking For 6+ months of experience in a veterinary hospital or clinic; emergency experience a plus Candidates with strong animal handling experience who want to learn emergency medicine are encouraged to apply [delete if you require experience] California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP) preferred, or willingness to obtain one Comfortable handling anxious, painful, or aggressive animals safely Able to stay steady during high-stress cases and move quickly when needed Reliable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn Available for nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled Physical Requirements Stand for long periods, kneel, and work on the floor with patients Lift up to [40-50] lbs independently and more with assistance Work in a fast-paced environment with noise, odors, and exposure to animal fluids and radiation (with protective equipment) What We Offer $26 - $30 4x10s or 3x12s Medical/Dental/Vision PTO Uniform allowance Pet care discount Paid on-the-job training in emergency medicine Support for pursuing RVT licensure, e.g., tuition assistance or approved-program hours A brand-new, modern facility and a team being built from the ground up Rancho Mirage Animal & Emergency is an equal opportunity employer.
