The Kennel Assistant supports the veterinary team by providing compassionate, attentive care to patients and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized hospital environment. This role is responsible for routine patient care, kennel sanitation, and assisting veterinary technicians and other team members with patient needs. Essential Responsibilities Provide daily care for hospitalized and boarding patients, including feeding, watering, walking, and general comfort. Monitor patients and communicate changes in condition or behavior to the veterinary team. Clean and maintain kennels, patient areas, equipment, and supplies to ensure a safe and sanitary environment. Assist veterinary staff with patient handling, restraint, procedures, treatments, and medication-related tasks as directed. Follow hospital protocols for patient safety, infection control, and other routine hospital duties. Qualifications Previous experience working with animals preferred but not required. Veterinary, kennel, animal care, or customer service experience is a plus. Comfortable handling and working around dogs, cats, and other animals. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work effectively as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize and communicate changes in patient condition. Reliable, dependable, and able to work in a fast-paced veterinary environment. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to regularly bend, kneel, crouch, and reach. Ability to lift and carry animals and supplies as required by the position. Ability to safely handle animals of varying sizes and temperaments.
