Job Description

Animal Welfare Assistance of GA is seeking veterinary assistants or licensed technicians to fill open positions at municipal animal shelters in several counties outside the metro Atlanta area. Previous shelter experience and/or HQHV spay/neuter experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right individuals who come from other areas within the veterinary or animal care realm. Veterinary teams in municipal animal shelters see a highly varied caseload and work with a variety of animals - cats and dogs, poultry, livestock, wildlife and exotics. Two days in a shelter are rarely ever the same! Some holiday and weekend work will be required depending on work location to ensure continuity of care by trained veterinary staff. Typical work weeks are five 8-hour shifts (scheduled as 9 hours with one hour being for lunch) but may vary depending upon need. Must be able to bend, squat or kneel repeatedly Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds without assistance Must have good range of motion in joints and back Must be able to work in stressful conditions such as a heavy workload or in emotionally taxing situations Must be able to respond quickly and calmly in a variety of medical situations Must be able to cope with unexpected deaths, euthanasia, and spay-aborts performed at any stage of pregnancy Must be able to multitask if necessary Must be able to take initiative and have a fine attention to detail Must be able to work well with others as a team to accomplish required daily tasks Must be able to take direction from supervisors
Pay:
$17.00 - $25.00 per hour
