Mendota Companion Animal Centre P.C. is a family oriented small animal and exotics practice. We are seeking a passionate, compassionate, self-motivated and service-oriented Kennel Attendant to join our family veterinary practice. We are seeking someone who will aid our technicians during examinations and medical treatments and provide care to our animal patients that are in clinic or boarding.

Responsibilities:

• Will interact with clients in person and by phone.
• Ensure exam rooms and cages are ready.
• Assist the veterinarian and technicians.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately.
• Provide care and assistance to animals in the kennel facility.
• Feed, water, and exercise animals according to their specific needs.
• Clean and maintain kennel areas, including cages, and all areas in clinic, maintaining clean laundry.
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinary staff.
• Monitor animals for any signs of illness or distress and report to veterinary staff.
• Assist with grooming tasks such as bathing, brushing, and nail trimming.
• Maintain accurate records of animal care and treatment.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working with animals, preferably in a kennel or veterinary setting preferred but not necessary.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to handle animals of all sizes and temperaments safely and confidently.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and veterinary staff.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
• Physical stamina to handle the demands of the job, including lifting heavy animals if necessary.
