Valiant Veterinary-Urgent & Outpatient Care

Veterinary Assistant

Job Description

Veterinary Assistant — Urgent & Outpatient Care Valiant Veterinary - Urgent & Outpatient Care Burlington, MA | Full-Time A Different Kind of Veterinary Practice Valiant Veterinary is a veterinarian-owned, non-corporate practice bringing a new model of veterinary care to the Burlington area. We're building the veterinary equivalent of human ambulatory care — providing accessible, high-quality urgent and outpatient medicine for pets who need more than a routine appointment but don't always need a 24-hour emergency hospital. While urgent care will be the mainstay of the clinic, we will also provide outpatient surgical, dental, and travel certificate services with plans to offer more outpatient services in the future. We're looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant who wants to use their skills, practice great medicine, and be part of building a collaborative veterinary practice from the ground up.
What You'll Do:
Our veterinary assistants are a vital part of the team and are encouraged to work at the top of their skills and training. We emphasize teaching, learning, and encourage growth and development. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with examinations, medical treatments, and surgical procedures Patient restraint, histories, vital signs, and weights Assist with in-house laboratory testing and preparation of reference laboratory samples Assist with medication, vaccine, and fluid administration as prescribed Digital radiography and diagnostic support Patient monitoring and nursing care Surgical preparation, and patient recovery Urgent care patient intake, treatment, and discharge Client education and communication Accurate medical record documentation Maintaining clean, organized, and properly stocked patient care and treatment areas You'll work with a diverse urgent and outpatient caseload including wounds, GI illness, lameness, urinary concerns, infections, toxin exposures, pain, and other acute medical and surgical presentations. Why Valiant Veterinary? We're intentionally building a practice where excellent patient care and a great team environment go together. Our owners have over 40 years of combined experience in ER/Specialty Hospitals including practice ownership and management. Veterinarian-owned & non-corporate — clinical decisions are made by the people practicing medicine. Use your skills — veterinary assistants are trusted and encouraged to practice at the top of their abilities. Interesting medicine — urgent and outpatient cases without the traditional 24-hour ER environment. Collaborative culture — doctors, technicians, and assistants work as one team. Help build something new — early team members will have a real voice in how our practice develops. Modern environment — workflows and systems designed intentionally around efficient, high-quality patient care.
Who We're Looking For:
We're looking for someone who is dependable, collaborative, comfortable in a fast-moving clinical environment, passionate about providing excellent patient care, and enjoys and is proud of the profession. Veterinary hospital experience is preferred. Experience in urgent care, emergency, specialty, surgery, or high-volume general practice is especially valuable, but urgent care experience is not required. We're looking for someone who is comfortable working with both animals and people, communicates well, can prioritize multiple tasks in a changing clinical environment, and is willing to support the entire team wherever needed.
Compensation & Benefits:
Valiant offers competitive compensation based on experience and skills, along with benefits for eligible full-time employees, paid time off, continuing education support, employee veterinary care benefits, and opportunities for professional growth as the practice expands. If you're looking for a veterinary assistant position where you can use your skills, practice interesting medicine, and help shape a veterinarian-owned practice, we'd love to meet you. Apply through Indeed with your resume, brief introduction, and why you are interested in the position.
