Job Description
Kennel Assistant Description The kennel position is in charge of all hospitalized patient care and overall cleanliness of the practice. This is a part-time position and has a morning and evening shift. Start time is 7:30 am until tasks are finished. Evening time starts at 3:00 pm until tasks are finished. The evening shift must stay until tasks are finished and it is at least 9:00 pm. Duties Keep all patients in hospital clean and comfortable and maintain a clean and orderly hospital General cleaning-vacuuming, mopping, cleaning restrooms, taking out trash, recycling and washing and cleaning windows and mirrors. Handle and restrain animals Assist team members when needed Operate computer software Administer medications as directed by the doctor Operate medical equipment such as IV pumps, body warming units, etc. Perform basic veterinary skills such as nail trims, suture removals, ear cleaning, etc. Prepare kennels for patients (blanket, litterbox, water, IV pump..) Follow treatment plans for patients according to doctor orders Record patient notes in medical record Keep walkways and outdoor appearance acceptable for clients Shovel entry way during winter months Occasionally will need to use personal vehicle to purchase supplies and bring recycling to the proper facility.
