Working/Functional Title ICU Veterinary Nurse I Position Summary Provides patient care for ill and injured animals in the Veterinary Medical Center. This position will be primarily providing support to our Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care unit ; Instructing and demonstrating techniques to students; assists students, veterinary technicians, and veterinarians in their work; maintains supplies, equipment, and cleanliness of hospital areas. Skills you will develop and utilize include emergency triage, patient stabilization, nursing care, knowledge of setup and assisting with emergency procedures. With four Boarded Critical Care Specialized Veterinarians and two Emergency and Critical Care Veterinary Technician Specialists, we support and assist in your career development. Minimum Requirements Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical or vocational school in Veterinary Technology; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in extensive patient care, surgery, anesthesia, drug- dosing, and sterilization; experience in the use of spreadsheet and word processing software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; licensed as a Veterinary Technician with the State of Michigan or attainment of such certification within one year from date of employment. Desired Qualifications Experience in an educational setting; background in emergency medicine.
