Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and surgeries
Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
Administer medications and vaccines as directed by veterinarians
Perform laboratory tests such as blood work and urinalysis
Monitor vital signs of animals during procedures
Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery of animals
Maintain accurate records of patient treatments and procedures
Clean and maintain examination rooms, surgical suites, and laboratory areas
Assist with animal restraint during examinations and procedures
Provide support to clients by answering questions and providing education on pet care
Employees are cross trained and work in reception, treatment and surgery with care given to ensure adequate training and room for growth in all areas. Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility is required
Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures
Familiarity with aseptic technique and infection control protocols
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and stand for long periods of time Skills
Veterinary critical care
Laboratory skills for conducting tests on samples
Animal husbandry knowledge for proper care of animals in the clinic
Aseptic technique for maintaining cleanliness during procedures
Dog handling skills for safe restraint during examinations or treatments
Kennel management for maintaining cleanliness and comfort of animals in the clinic
Veterinary assistant skills for providing support to veterinarians and assisting with various tasks
