- Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and surgeries
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed by veterinarians
- Perform laboratory tests such as blood work and urinalysis
- Monitor vital signs of animals during procedures
- Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery of animals
- Maintain accurate records of patient treatments and procedures
- Clean and maintain examination rooms, surgical suites, and laboratory areas
- Assist with animal restraint during examinations and procedures
- Provide support to clients by answering questions and providing education on pet care
- Employees are cross trained and work in reception, treatment and surgery with care given to ensure adequate training and room for growth in all areas. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care facility is required
- Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures
- Familiarity with aseptic technique and infection control protocols
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and stand for long periods of time Skills
- Veterinary critical care
- Laboratory skills for conducting tests on samples
- Animal husbandry knowledge for proper care of animals in the clinic
- Aseptic technique for maintaining cleanliness during procedures
- Dog handling skills for safe restraint during examinations or treatments
- Kennel management for maintaining cleanliness and comfort of animals in the clinic
- Veterinary assistant skills for providing support to veterinarians and assisting with various tasks
