We are an established small animal practice serving the Harrisonville community and surrounding Kansas City area for more than 31 years . What You'll Do As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll play an important role in keeping our hospital running smoothly and helping our patients receive excellent care.
Your responsibilities may include:
Assisting veterinarians and other team members with patient care Safely handling and restraining dogs, cats, and other small animals Preparing patients for examinations, treatments, procedures, and surgery Assisting with medication administration and other treatments under veterinary direction Assisting with catheter placement, IV setup, and other technical procedures as trained Preparing and maintaining treatment and surgical areas Cleaning and disinfecting kennels, exam rooms, treatment areas, and equipment Feeding, walking, bathing, and providing general care for hospitalized or boarding animals Monitoring patients and communicating changes in behavior or condition to the veterinary team Maintaining accurate patient records Assisting with laboratory procedures and diagnostic testing Helping with inventory and stocking supplies Providing a friendly and compassionate experience for clients and their pets Assisting with front-desk duties and client communication when needed Pitching in wherever you're needed to help the team and our patients Every day is a little different , and you'll have the opportunity to learn about many different aspects of veterinary medicine. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is: Passionate about animals and their well-being Dependable, responsible, and willing to learn Comfortable handling dogs and cats Able to work effectively as part of a team Compassionate and patient with both animals and people Comfortable communicating with pet owners Detail-oriented and able to follow instructions carefully Able to stay calm and organized in a fast-paced environment Comfortable with cleaning and the less glamorous parts of veterinary medicine Interested in developing their veterinary knowledge and skills Previous veterinary, kennel, animal care, or farm experience is a plus, but we're also willing to train the right person. Experience with animal restraint, husbandry, veterinary terminology, medication administration, or other clinical skills is valuable, but a willingness to learn and a positive attitude are just as important to us. Our Facility Our clinic was newly renovated in 2021 and includes: 7 exam rooms Separate cat area Comfort room Large open treatment area Dedicated surgery suite In-house laboratory Urinalysis Ultrasound Digital radiography Dental radiography Laser therapy You'll have the opportunity to learn in a modern facility while working alongside an experienced veterinary team.
