If you're someone who loves working with animals, enjoys connecting with clients, and takes pride in being one step ahead of the veterinarian, we'd love to hear from you. As a Veterinary Assistant , you'll play an important role in providing excellent patient care and creating a positive experience for our clients. You'll work closely with our veterinarians and veterinary team throughout appointments, diagnostics, and patient care. What You'll Do Prepare exam rooms and ensure they are clean, stocked, and ready for each appointment.. Assist veterinarians with appointments from start to finish. Obtain and document patient histories and vital signs. Safely and compassionately restrain patients during examinations and procedures. Educate clients about wellness care, vaccines, parasite prevention, medications, surgery, and post-operative care. Explain treatment plans and discharge instructions and help ensure clients understand their pet's care at home. Assist with diagnostic procedures and collect patient samples. Perform routine in-house laboratory testing and prepare specimens for submission to outside laboratories. Administer medications, fluids, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian. Perform outpatient procedures such as nail trims, anal gland expression, suture removal, and other treatments as directed. Assist with surgical procedures and anesthesia, including patient preparation and monitoring. Ensure surgical and monitoring equipment is clean, stocked, and functioning properly. Maintain high standards of patient safety, sanitation, infection control, and cleanliness. Work collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, CSRs, and other team members to provide exceptional patient and client care. What We're Looking For 1+ years of previous veterinary assistant experience required . Knowledge of basic veterinary medical terminology and procedures. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain calm in a fast-paced environment. Compassionate and confident animal handling skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Comfortable working with veterinary software and computers; experience with Cornerstone and Microsoft Office is a plus. Willingness to learn and continue developing your veterinary knowledge and skills. Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care, safety, and infection control. Reliable and ready to start shifts on time. This position requires the ability to: Lift and handle pets and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. Stand for extended periods and perform repetitive movements, bending, lifting, and reaching. Education & Continuing Education A high school diploma is required. An associate degree in a relevant field, one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience is preferred. Veterinary Assistants are expected to complete 20 hours of continuing education every two years to support ongoing professional development. Why Join Our Team?
