Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and welfare, with the ability to support the on-duty veterinarian in providing high-quality medical care to a variety of animals. This role involves assisting with routine procedures, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and ensuring the comfort and safety of our animal patients. Duties
Assist the veterinarian during examinations and surgical procedures.
Handle and restrain animals safely during treatments and examinations.
Prepare animals for surgery, including administering pre-operative medications as directed.
Maintain accurate medical records and update patient information as needed.
Perform routine laboratory tests, such as blood draws and urinalysis.
Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
Monitor animal recovery post-surgery and provide appropriate post-operative care.
Educate pet owners on proper pet care, nutrition, and preventative health measures.
Ensure the clinic is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies. Experience
Previous experience in a veterinary setting is preferred but not required; training will be provided.
Familiarity with animal physiology, anatomy, and restraint techniques is beneficial.
Experience handling dogs, cats, or other animals is a plus.
Knowledge of veterinary critical care practices is advantageous for candidates looking to advance their skills.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with team members and pet owners.
