Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our veterinary team. The ideal candidate will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing exceptional animal care and client service. This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, assisting with a variety of medical and administrative tasks to ensure the well-being of our animal patients. Prior experience in veterinary clinics, animal handling, or related fields is highly valued, and candidates with kennel experience, animal husbandry, or veterinary technician background are encouraged to apply. Duties Assist with animal restraint during examinations and procedures to ensure safety for both animals and staff Administer medications and vaccinations as directed by veterinarians or veterinary technicians Support with laboratory procedures including sample collection and processing Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of treatment areas, kennels, and surgical suites using aseptic techniques Monitor hospitalized animals, providing basic pet care such as feeding, cleaning, and comfort measures Help with front desk duties including client communication, appointment scheduling, and record keeping Handle various species including dogs and cats with appropriate care techniques Assist in animal catheterization, injections, and other medical procedures requiring animal physiology knowledge Support pet owners by providing education on pet care, medication administration, and post-treatment instructions Maintain detailed records of treatments, medications administered, and patient progress Skills Kennel experience and animal husbandry skills are preferred for this role Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology Experience with animal restraint techniques across different species including dogs and cats Ability to handle animals safely during examinations or procedures; pet care expertise is essential Knowledge of laboratory procedures related to veterinary medicine Front desk experience helpful for managing client interactions efficiently Familiarity with medication administration protocols and aseptic techniques Veterinary assistant or clinic experience is highly desirable for a smooth integration into our team Excellent communication skills combined with compassion for animals and clients This position provides a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the health and comfort of animals while working alongside experienced veterinary professionals.
