Full Job Description Job Summary :
The Veterinary Kennel Assistant is responsible for providing care and the basic needs of animals that are receiving medical treatment or boarding at our hospital. This includes cleaning cages, feeding, walking, and providing general care to ensure the well-being of the animals.
Key Responsibilities :
Animal Care :
Provide food and water to animals according to care plans. Walk and exercise animals regularly.
Cleaning and Maintenance :
Clean and disinfect kennels, cages, and common areas to maintain a sanitary environment. Ensure no cages or kennels are soiled and odors are not apparent.
Health Monitoring :
Observe animal appearance and activity for general physical condition, signs of illness, disease, or discontent. Report any concerns to veterinary staff.
Medication Administration :
Administer medications or treatments to animals as directed by a veterinarian.
Customer Service :
Assist with admitting and discharging animals, giving updates to owners when necessary.
Record Keeping :
Document all care provided and any incidents that occur. Maintain accurate records of feeding schedules, appearance, and behavior of animals.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience working with animals is preferred. Ability to handle and restrain animals safely. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Physical stamina to walk, lift, and handle animals of various sizes.
Working Conditions :
Work is performed in a veterinary clinic environment. Exposure to animals, cleaning chemicals, and potential allergens. Requires standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods.

$15.00 - $16.00 per hour
