Are you passionate about caring for horses? Mid-Atlantic Equine is looking for a full-time veterinary assistant to join our hospital team!

What to expect:

No two days are alike when caring for equine patients. Our technician assistants support our veterinarian and technician staff in the daily care of our patients.

In this position you will:

Clean, maintain and stock exam rooms and barns. Feed horses and check water in stalls and paddocks. Assist in preparing fluids for administration. Prepare stalls for incoming emergency and drop-off patients. Assist veterinarians with examinations; including jogging horses in hand or lungeing for lameness and pre-purchase evaluations. Assist with hand walks and other non-medication related treatments. Communicate with veterinarians and other technicians to ensure preparedness for the day and later shifts. You will excel here if you: Love horses and want to learn more about the medical care of horses. Have excellent horse handling skills and are comfortable handling horses of all ages and discipline levels, including sedated horses. Are a multi-tasker and can prioritize effectively and communicate clearly. Remain calm, friendly and dependable in emergency situations.

Pay:

$16.50 - $18.00 per hour
