Our team works in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with multiple veterinarians and a skilled support staff. We are currently seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician/Veterinary Assistant to join our team full-time. The ideal candidate is dependable, motivated, comfortable working in a busy multi-doctor practice, and confident performing hands-on veterinary technical duties. We are looking for someone who takes pride in patient care, works well as part of a team, and is able to stay organized and efficient in a fast-paced hospital environment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, procedures, and surgeries Safely restrain dogs and cats for examinations and procedures Obtain patient histories and accurately document information in medical records Perform venipuncture and collect blood samples Place IV catheters Collect and prepare urine, fecal, blood, and other diagnostic samples Run in-house laboratory testing and diagnostics Take and properly position patients for diagnostic radiographs (X-rays) Administer medications, vaccines, injections, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian Calculate and prepare medications as instructed Prepare patients and the surgical suite for procedures Clean, sterilize, and properly maintain surgical instruments Assist with anesthesia and patient monitoring Monitor post-operative patients Communicate professionally and compassionately with pet owners Educate clients regarding medications, treatments, preventative care, and veterinarian recommendations Maintain accurate and detailed patient records Clean and maintain treatment areas, equipment, and hospital facilities Follow hospital safety, sanitation, and infection-control protocols Work collaboratively with doctors, technicians, assistants, receptionists, and management Qualifications Minimum 1 year of veterinary assistant or veterinary technician experience preferred Experience working in a veterinary hospital or clinical setting strongly preferred Comfortable working with multiple veterinarians Comfortable handling dogs and cats of different sizes and temperaments Ability to perform or assist with common veterinary diagnostics Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment Dependable, punctual, professional, and team-oriented Ability to lift at least 50 pounds High school diploma or equivalent required Experienced candidates who are proficient in venipuncture, IV catheter placement, radiology, laboratory diagnostics, surgical assisting, and anesthesia monitoring are strongly encouraged to apply.
