What You'll Do As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll play an important role in supporting our veterinarians and technicians while helping ensure our patients receive outstanding care every day.
Responsibilities include:
Safely restraining patients during examinations and procedures Preparing exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites Assisting with patient admissions and discharges Collecting patient histories and documenting observations accurately Assisting with laboratory testing, including fecals, urinalysis, ear cytology, skin scrapings, heartworm testing, and fungal cultures Taking high-quality radiographs Assisting with surgical preparation, instrument care, and maintaining sterile equipment Monitoring and caring for hospitalized patients Educating clients on vaccines, home care instructions, and follow-up recommendations Preparing treatment estimates and discussing financial options with clients Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe hospital environment Working collaboratively with doctors, technicians, and client service representatives to provide exceptional patient care What We're Looking For High school diploma or equivalent Previous veterinary assistant or veterinary hospital experience preferred Animal handling and restraint experience preferred Strong communication and client service skills Positive attitude with a willingness to learn Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented Why You'll Love Working Here Supportive doctors and experienced veterinary team Opportunities to learn and expand your clinical skills Positive, collaborative workplace culture Modern equipment and quality medicine Established hospitals with strong community relationships Opportunities for growth within our hospital network Benefits Competitive compensation Monthly Bonus Opportunities Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance Health Savings Account (HSA) & Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Life Insurance 401(k) with Company Match Paid Time Off & Paid Holidays Annual Scrub Allowance Free RACE-Approved Continuing Education Employee Pet Care Discounts Pet Insurance Discounts Career Growth & Internal Advancement Opportunities Schedule Full-Time 8-hour day shifts Some Saturdays may be required Physical Requirements This position requires standing, walking, lifting, restraining animals of varying sizes, and working in a veterinary hospital environment with exposure to anesthetic gases, laboratory samples, animal odors, and occasional bites or scratches.
