If you have at least one year of veterinary clinical experience, are confident working with clients and patients, and enjoy being the person who keeps appointments organized and moving efficiently, this may be the role for you. Our Room Assistants work directly alongside our doctors and are an important part of the daily flow of our hospital. You will be responsible for rooming appointments, communicating with clients, assisting with patient handling, documenting information, entering charges, and helping the doctor stay on schedule. This is not an entry-level position. A minimum of one year of hands-on veterinary clinical experience is required. About the Role The Room Assistant serves as the connection between the client, patient, and veterinarian. You will work directly with doctors throughout the appointment process, helping gather information, prepare patients, communicate recommendations, document the visit, and ensure the doctor has what they need to provide excellent patient care. The right person for this role is confident, organized, personable, and able to anticipate what needs to happen next without waiting to be told every step. What You'll Do Room clients and patients efficiently and professionally Obtain and document accurate patient histories and presenting concerns Obtain and record patient weights and other basic information Safely handle and restrain dogs and cats during examinations and procedures Assist doctors during physical examinations and treatments Prepare patients and exam rooms for the doctor's arrival Communicate client questions and concerns clearly to the medical team Enter accurate medical charges and services Assist with scheduling and maintaining efficient appointment flow Keep doctors informed of patient status and appointment needs Prepare medications and other items as directed by the doctor or medical team Assist with diagnostic procedures and sample collection as needed Maintain accurate and timely medical records Clean and reset exam rooms between appointments Help anticipate the doctor's needs and keep appointments moving efficiently Provide professional, compassionate client service throughout the appointment Work closely with other Veterinary Assistants, Technicians, Receptionists, and Doctors to maintain an organized and efficient hospital What We're Looking For Required Minimum 1 year of hands-on veterinary clinical experience Experience working in a veterinary hospital, animal hospital, or veterinary clinic Comfortable handling and restraining dogs and cats Familiarity with veterinary terminology and common clinical procedures Strong communication and client service skills Ability to work directly with doctors and other medical team members Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic Ability to work independently while also being an effective team member
