Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Kennel Assistant to join our vibrant veterinary team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring the well-being and comfort of our animal patients by providing exceptional animal care, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and supporting veterinary staff with various clinical tasks. Your enthusiasm for animals and attention to detail will help create a positive experience for both our furry patients and their owners. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in animal husbandry, veterinary procedures, and client communication within a dynamic healthcare setting. Responsibilities Assist with animal handling and restraint to ensure safety during examinations, treatments, and procedures Maintain cleanliness of kennels, treatment areas, and surgical suites through thorough cleaning and sanitation practices Support veterinary staff with medication administration, IV insertion, catheterization, and other clinical tasks as needed Record keeping of patient information, treatment details, and medication logs accurately and efficiently Monitor animal behavior and welfare, providing comfort and reassurance to animals in care Help with client communication by updating pet owners on their animals' status and answering basic questions Support surgical procedures by preparing equipment, assisting during operations, and post-operative care Experience Prior kennel experience or animal handling background is highly preferred Veterinary clinic experience or exposure to veterinary terminology is advantageous Experience with dog handling, animal restraint techniques, and pet care procedures is beneficial Knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, behavior, and welfare standards is desirable Familiarity with cleaning protocols, PPE use, record keeping systems, and medication administration enhances your effectiveness in this role Equine experience or veterinary critical care background can be a plus but is not required Join us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals while advancing your career in veterinary health!

$22.00 - $25.00 per hour
