Job Description

Job Summary Furry Friends Small Animal Hospital is an independently owned small animal practice in Niagara Falls, NY, serving the Wheatfield and surrounding Western New York community. We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This is a full-time position for someone who is comfortable working with dogs and cats, obtaining thorough patient histories, communicating with clients, and supporting the veterinarian and veterinary team in a busy small animal practice. Excellent communication skills, dependability, and compassion are essential. Responsibilities Obtain thorough patient histories and accurately document client concerns for the veterinarian Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients Safely and compassionately handle and restrain dogs and cats Obtain patient weights and help prepare patients and exam rooms for veterinary examinations Provide nontechnical support to the veterinarian and licensed veterinary technicians during patient care Help maintain smooth patient flow throughout the hospital Review veterinarian-provided home-care and discharge instructions with clients as directed Assist with general patient comfort and husbandry Clean and disinfect exam rooms, kennels, treatment areas, and equipment Stock exam rooms and treatment areas and help maintain supplies Assist with laundry and other duties necessary to maintain a clean and efficient veterinary hospital Work cooperatively with the veterinarian, veterinary technicians, reception staff, and other team members Qualifications Previous veterinary assistant experience required Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience obtaining patient histories and communicating directly with veterinary clients Comfortable handling dogs and cats of different sizes and temperaments Compassionate, dependable, punctual, and team-oriented Able to remain organized and professional in a busy veterinary environment Strong attention to detail Schedule Full-time Weekdays Every other Saturday Additional Benefits Paid vacation, paid holidays, and paid sick leave Continuing education support Personal pet care discounts
Pay:
$17.00 - $19.00 per hour Expected hours: 35.0 - 40.0 per week
