Job Description

Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with animal examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures, ensuring adherence to aseptic techniques and safety protocols Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques, including dog handling, animal restraint, and species-specific management Prepare and administer medications, including injections (IV insertion, vascular access), and monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures (general anesthesia, veterinary anesthesia monitoring) Perform laboratory work such as phlebotomy, diagnostic radiology (X-ray), and veterinary laboratory diagnostics to support accurate diagnoses Operate medical equipment including radiology machines, dental units, and other diagnostic tools while maintaining calibration and cleanliness Support critical & intensive care by monitoring animals in emergency situations, assisting with pet grooming and pet care routines Maintain detailed records using veterinary software, documenting procedures, treatments, and client communications accurately Requirements Proven kennel experience along with animal husbandry knowledge to ensure optimal animal comfort and safety Familiarity with veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and anatomy to effectively assist in medical procedures Hands-on experience with dental terminology, laboratory diagnostics, radiology diagnostics, and medical equipment operation Strong dog handling skills and experience with pet grooming or training are preferred Ability to perform IV insertion, animal catheterization, medication administration, and anesthesia monitoring confidently Prior veterinary technician experience or equivalent veterinary experience is highly desirable Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration Knowledge of aseptic techniques and emergency medicine practices to support critical & intensive care situations
Pay:
$17.00 - $30.00 per hour
