Position Overview:
We are seeking an EXPERIANCED, skilled and enthusiastic Veterinary Assistant to join our team. In this full time role, you will support our veterinarian and registered technicians by performing essential tasks that ensure the smooth operation of our practice. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care, excellent communication skills, and experience in a veterinary setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Appointment Management:
Check in patients for their appointments, including verifying client information and preparing the medical record.
Medical Histories & Vitals:
Take detailed medical histories from clients, measure and record vital signs, and document all findings accurately.
Restraint & Assistance:
Assist with the safe restraint of animals during examinations, treatments, and procedures to ensure their comfort and safety.
Radiography:
Assist with taking radiographs (X-rays) as needed, following proper protocols and ensuring quality images for accurate diagnoses.
Software Utilization:
Utilize our cloud-based practice management software to enter patient information, update records, and manage appointments effectively.
Client Communication:
Provide clear and compassionate communication with clients about their pets' care and treatment plans. Answer questions and offer guidance as needed.
Medical Support:
Assist with various medical procedures and treatments as directed by the veterinarian, including administering medications and performing diagnostic tests.
Facility Maintenance:
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of exam rooms, treatment areas, and other clinic spaces. Adhere to sanitation and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
Prior experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is required. Experience with radiography and cloud-based software is a plus.
Skills:
Proficiency in taking medical histories, measuring vitals, and handling animals safely is highly desired. Strong interpersonal skills for effective client communication is a plus. Basic computer skills and familiarity with cloud-based veterinary software is required.
Attributes:
A positive, team-oriented attitude with a genuine commitment to animal welfare. Ability to handle a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and handle animals of various sizes. Capability to stand, kneel, and bend for extended periods.
