Overview Bae Veterinary Services LLC dba The Peaceable Kingdom Animal Hospital in Ephrata, PA is looking for a Full-Time Veterinary Receptionist and Assistant. In this vital role, you will be the friendly face greeting clients, managing appointments, and providing essential support in animal care and clinic operations. This role is primarily as a veterinary receptionist but will also include some light, veterinary assistant tasks. Duties Greet clients warmly upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression and smooth check-in process Manage appointment scheduling, follow-up calls, and client communications efficiently Assist veterinary staff with animal handling, restraint, and basic animal husbandry tasks to ensure safety during examinations and procedures Support clinical procedures including medication administration, IV catheterization, and surgical assistance as needed Maintain accurate record keeping of patient histories, treatment plans, medications, and procedural notes in compliance with clinic protocols Clean and disinfect treatment areas, kennels, cages, and equipment to uphold high standards of hygiene and infection control using appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) Handle animals confidently; understand animal behavior to ensure safe handling and restraint Assist with inventory management of medical supplies, medications, and pet care products to ensure readiness for daily operations Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding animal care instructions, treatment plans, and follow-up needs Qualifications Prior experience (minimum one year) in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is highly preferred; kennel or veterinary technician experience is a plus Demonstrated ability in animal handling, restraint techniques, and basic medical procedures such as subcutaneous injection and medication administration Knowledge of veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and animal behavior to support clinical activities effectively Experience with front desk operations including client communication, record keeping, appointment scheduling, and billing processes Familiarity with surgical assistance tasks such as animal preparation and post-operative care is advantageous Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and compassion for animals Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with clients and team members while promoting animal welfare standards This full-time position ensures that all work is compensated fairly while providing opportunities for professional development in veterinary medicine.
