Job Description
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant/Customer Service Representative to join our team. As a Veterinary Assistant and Customer Service Representative, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our animal patients. Previous experience for this position is strongly preferred.
Primary Duties include:
Answer and manage phone calls from clients with highest level of customer service (making appointments, medication refills, taking thorough messages for hospital management and doctors when necessary)
Greet client and patient warmly upon arrival to the hospital
Communicate their arrival to clinical staff
Perform animal restraint during examinations and procedures
Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
Collect and prepare samples for laboratory testing, such as blood, urine, or fecal samples
Position animals for X-rays as needed
Clean and stock exam rooms as necessary, clean and organize lab and treatment areas
Educate pet owners on proper animal care and medication administration
Maintain accurate records of patient treatments and procedures
Experience:
To be successful in this role, you should have the following characteristics:
Strong work ethic and ability to self motivate and learn
A compassionate personality and willingness to engage with animals and their owners
Previous experience working as a Veterinary Assistant and/or Customer service representative
Knowledge in animal care techniques, including animal restraint and husbandry
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology preferred
Certification or licensure as a Veterinary Technician is a plus
Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with pet owners and team members
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
