Job Description
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant/Customer Service Representative to join our team. As a Veterinary Assistant and Customer Service Representative, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to our animal patients. Previous experience for this position is strongly preferred.Primary Duties include:
- Answer and manage phone calls from clients with highest level of customer service (making appointments, medication refills, taking thorough messages for hospital management and doctors when necessary)
- Greet client and patient warmly upon arrival to the hospital
- Communicate their arrival to clinical staff
- Perform animal restraint during examinations and procedures
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Collect and prepare samples for laboratory testing, such as blood, urine, or fecal samples
- Position animals for X-rays as needed
- Clean and stock exam rooms as necessary, clean and organize lab and treatment areas
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and medication administration
- Maintain accurate records of patient treatments and procedures
Experience:
To be successful in this role, you should have the following characteristics:- Strong work ethic and ability to self motivate and learn
- A compassionate personality and willingness to engage with animals and their owners
- Previous experience working as a Veterinary Assistant and/or Customer service representative
- Knowledge in animal care techniques, including animal restraint and husbandry
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Veterinary Technology preferred
- Certification or licensure as a Veterinary Technician is a plus
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with pet owners and team members
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
