Full Job Description Who We Are:
The Pet Cancer Center of Providence (PCC) is a soon-to-launch, standalone specialty practice dedicated exclusively to veterinary medical oncology. Built around the belief that focused care creates a better experience for pets, families, and clinical teams, the practice will combine thoughtful treatment planning, compassionate communication, and personalized support throughout each patient's cancer journey. We are dedicated to helping pets enjoy more quality time while giving their families clarity, confidence, and hope. By making medical oncology our sole focus, we are creating a practice where every detail is designed around the unique needs of pets with cancer and the people who love them. Join us in building a new standard for focused, compassionate veterinary cancer care. We're seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our founding clinical team. Whether your background is in general practice, emergency or you've already worked in oncology or critical care, this is a unique opportunity to take your skills to the next level in a state-of-the-art hospital designed for learning, teamwork, and excellence. In this role, you'll work as a Veterinary Assistant rotating across a range of support areas. You'll be trained and supported to grow your technical confidence in a fast-paced, well-resourced specialty environment. This is a chance to help shape the protocols, culture, and rhythms of a brand-new hospital before we open our doors. You'll be instrumental in helping us build a team that functions with trust, efficiency, and heart.
What You'll Do:
Assist Doctor and Technicians in providing a seamless client and patient appointment experience Handling and restraint of patients for consultation exams and patient sample collection Handling and submission of patient samples to in-house and external laboratory Thorough cleaning, organization, and stocking of appointment exam rooms and appointment treatment area
What We Require:
1-2+ years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant in GP, ER, or specialty Experience with practice management software (ezyVet is our in-house platform) Adaptability, being able to pivot effortlessly while demonstrating a positive attitude with clients and co-workers Sound judgment with the ability to work ethically, independently, and responsibly Dedication to excellent service for each client and patient and respect for coworkers Flexibility, curiosity, and the desire to help build something new What Makes This Role Unique This is a launch position as we open a new clinic in the heart of Providence! You will spend your first few weeks training, building rapport, and establishing a team workflow before opening a brand new specialty-only practice. This is a once-in-a-career chance to lead a founding team and you'll gain unique experience as we expand our state-of-the-art care in a new city. Our target start date for this role is November 11th, 2026.
