Job Description

We are a small, rapidly growing veterinary hospital that sees a wide variety of exotic and companion animals. Qualified candidates must be hard-working, self-motivated, organized, efficient, detail-oriented, and able to work well in a team setting. Previous animal hospital experience is required. Duties will include:
Providing compassionate care to patients and clients no matter the situation. Conducting oneself in a confident and professional manner even when stressed and/or focused on individual tasks. Keeping accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy. Preparing, cleaning and maintaining the exam rooms and treatment areas. Performing physical assessments; recording observations in patient file. Restraining pets of all types including dogs, birds, reptiles, etc. Experience not required but must be open to learning how to handle exotic animals. Knowing all common vaccines and vaccination protocols and explaining them to clients. Maintaining a clean and orderly facility, does not hesitate to clean or organize as part of a normal job duty. Maintaining a positive, cooperative relationship with other employees and clients. Preparing estimates for procedures and discussing financial commitments with clients supporting hospital financial policies. Explaining necessary follow-up and homecare instructions to clients. Setting up clinical laboratory procedures such as fecal flotation exams, heartworm checks, skin scrapings, urinalysis, ear cytology and fungal cultures; maintaining file of lab test results and ensuring that test results are recorded in patient records. Positioning for and taking radiographs. Admitting patients following hospital policy and doctors written orders. Discharging patients based on the veterinarian's orders, ensuring that patients are well groomed and in a medically appropriate state. Performing other duties as assigned including assisting in other areas.

$14.00 - $18.00 per hour
