Job Description

Job Overview Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Kennel Technician and Veterinary Assistant, where your passion for animal care and veterinary medicine will make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to work with small animals and exotics providing care an expanding your abilities. You will be providing high-quality kennel management, assisting with veterinary procedures, and ensuring a clean, safe, and comfortable space for all animals. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help uphold our commitment to exceptional pet care and veterinary excellence. Responsibilities Provide attentive animal husbandry by feeding, watering, cleaning kennels, and monitoring the health and behavior of animals. Perform routine basic grooming tasks such as shaving, nail trims, internal anal gland expression, and sanitary trims. Assist veterinary staff during examinations, surgeries, and treatments by restraining animals safely and efficiently. Perform routine animal handling tasks including dog handling, animal restraint, catheterization, IV insertion, and medication administration. Maintain accurate record keeping of patient information, treatment logs, and medication details using veterinary terminology. Support clinic operations at the front desk by communicating effectively with clients, scheduling appointments, and managing patient records. Ensure a sterile environment by cleaning kennels, surgical areas, equipment, and maintaining proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Assist with emergency critical care procedures for animals requiring intensive veterinary attention. Support client communication by explaining pet care instructions and answering questions about animal welfare and behavior. Qualifications Previous kennel experience or animal handling background is highly preferred. Veterinary technician experience or veterinary clinic experience is a strong asset. Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and animal behavior is essential. Experience with surgery support, medication administration, IV insertion, catheterization, and critical care procedures is desirable. Ability to handle animals safely using restraint techniques while demonstrating compassion and patience. Strong record keeping skills with attention to detail in documenting treatments and procedures accurately. Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients professionally and empathetically. Ability to work effectively in a team environment while managing multiple responsibilities efficiently. Important Requirements Reliable Transportation Able to work all holidays and weekends. Ability to read, write and speak English in a professional and courteous manner. Ability to lift 50# and physically restrain cats and dogs. Ability to withstand 10 hours standing, walking, bending and sitting. Basic ability to answer phones and learn computer programs. Criminal background check and drug testing will be required. Excellent driving history and Spanish speaking ability are a plus. Pay:
$10.00 - $14.00 per hour Expected hours: 28.0 - 35.0 per week
