Veterinary Assistant Cascade Veterinary Clinics Full-Time | $17.25-$24.25/hour Join Our Growing Team Cascade Veterinary Clinics is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our growing medical team. This is a hands-on patient care role for someone who enjoys working with animals, thrives in a team environment, and wants to continue learning and developing their skills in veterinary medicine. Veterinary Assistants work alongside our veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians to keep patients safe and comfortable, support efficient patient care, and create a positive experience for our clients. Prior veterinary experience is preferred but not required . We provide on-the-job training, continuing education, and opportunities to advance through Cascade Veterinary Clinics' training tiers.
What You'll Do:
Patient Care & Medical Support Provide compassionate care and help keep patients clean, comfortable, and safe. Safely handle and restrain animals for examinations, treatments, diagnostics, and procedures. Assist veterinarians and licensed veterinary technicians with patient treatments and procedures. Prepare exam rooms, treatment areas, equipment, and supplies. Assist with radiology, technician appointments, sample collection, and approved diagnostic testing. Review patient records and help prepare patients for scheduled treatments and procedures. Monitor recovering patients under the guidance of the medical team. Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and basic emergency support when directed. Walk, feed, clean, and bathe patients as needed. Help ensure every patient leaves our care better than when they arrived. Clinic & Laboratory Support Maintain clean, organized, and sanitized exam rooms, treatment areas, kennels, and hospital spaces. Clean and prepare instruments, equipment, surgical packs, and supplies. Operate approved in-house laboratory equipment and prepare samples for testing. Maintain laboratory cleanliness and assist with equipment quality-control procedures. Monitor and restock medical and treatment supplies. Complete laundry and other hospital-support duties throughout the day. Help maintain efficient patient flow and support the medical team wherever needed. Communication & Teamwork Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and coworkers. Keep the medical team informed of patient concerns, changes, and client requests. Complete accurate patient documentation and assigned callbacks. Answer basic client questions and direct medical questions to the appropriate team member. Work collaboratively with CSRs, Veterinary Assistants, LVTs, DVMs, and other team members. Support teammates during busy periods and contribute to a positive, respectful workplace. Participate in training and continue developing skills through Cascade Veterinary Clinics' training tiers. QualificationsRequired At least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent. Comfortable working with and handling animals of varying sizes and temperaments. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and continue developing veterinary skills. Reliable transportation and ability to work at our Wenatchee, East Wenatchee, and Leavenworth locations as needed. Ability to obtain and maintain required credentialing for the position. Dependable attendance and flexibility based on patient and clinic needs. Preferred Previous veterinary medicine experience. Animal-handling experience in a veterinary clinic, shelter, boarding facility, or similar environment. No previous veterinary experience? We still encourage you to apply. We're looking for dependable people who are eager to learn and grow with our team. Schedule This is a full-time position with a rotating schedule. Shifts may be scheduled Sunday through Saturday between approximately 6:30 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Weekend, evening, and holiday availability is required. Occasional schedule flexibility may be necessary when patient care or emergencies extend beyond a scheduled shift. Physical & Work Environment Veterinary medicine is active, hands-on work. This position requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and work at floor level throughout the day. Team members must be able to safely lift, carry, push, or pull up to approximately 40 pounds , with team assistance available for heavier animals or equipment. The veterinary environment may include animals of varying temperaments, loud noises, strong odors, animal waste and bodily fluids, cleaning chemicals, and potential exposure to zoonotic diseases. Compensation & Benefits $17.25-$24.25 per hour , depending on qualifications, experience, and demonstrated skill level. Additional pay differentials may be available for bilingual candidates, weekend shifts, on-call shifts, and overnight shifts. Medical and dental insurance after 60 days of employment.
