What You'll Do Triage incoming emergencies and perform initial patient assessments Place IV catheters, run fluid therapy, and administer medications, including controlled substances, per DVM orders Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia for emergency surgical procedures Perform and assist with diagnostics: bloodwork, radiographs, ultrasound prep, urinalysis, cytology Provide critical care nursing for hospitalized and ICU patients, including overnight monitoring and treatment sheets Assist with CPR and stabilization of critical patients Communicate treatment updates, discharge instructions, and estimates clearly and compassionately to clients Maintain accurate medical records and controlled drug logs Train and mentor veterinary assistants What We're Looking For Current California Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license 1+ years of experience as a veterinary technician; emergency, critical care, or specialty experience strongly preferred VTS in ECC or anesthesia is a plus [and will be considered in compensation] Strong skills in catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, and critical patient nursing Calm under pressure, a team player, and clear with clients during stressful moments Comfortable with practice management software and electronic medical records Available for nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled Physical Requirements Stand for long periods, kneel, and work on the floor with patients Lift up to [40-50] lbs independently and more with assistance Work in a fast-paced environment with noise, odors, and exposure to animal fluids and radiation (with protective equipment) What We Offer $30 - $38 hourly rate 4x10s or 3x12s Medical / Dental / Vision PTO / paid holidays CE allowance and paid CE days; RVT license renewal reimbursement Uniform allowance Pet care discount A brand-new, modern facility designed for emergency medicine A chance to help build a hospital's culture from the ground up Rancho Mirage Animal & Emergency is an equal opportunity employer.
