Job Description

Veterinary Technician Opportunity at Genesee Veterinary Hospital - Golden, CO Genesee Veterinary Hospital, a well-established, female owned, one-doctor animal practice in Golden, Colorado, is seeking a dedicated Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or Veterinary Technician to join our growing team. Position Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and motivated RVT or Technician to bring their expertise to our clinic. While we require candidates to be a Registered , we will also consider those with significant experience in a small animal practice if they demonstrate strong skills in anesthesia, surgery, and dental procedures. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team, expand your knowledge, and grow within our practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet clients, perform routine exams (TPR), and gather detailed patient histories for the veterinarian. Collect and process laboratory samples (blood, urine, fecal, ear cytology, skin aspirates), ensuring proper handling and accurate results. Provide safe and efficient animal restraint during exams and procedures. Demonstrate proficiency in surgical preparation, including administering medications, placing IV catheters, intubation, and anesthesia monitoring. Perform dental procedures including prophylaxis, scaling, polishing, and radiographs. Assist during surgeries by sterilizing instruments, preparing exam and operating rooms, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly. Update patient records, communicate care instructions to clients, and provide guidance on proper at-home care.
Job Requirements:
Required For RVT:
Active RVT licensure Candidates with strong experience in veterinary technology will also be considered. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a small animal practice. Proven proficiency in surgery, anesthesia, and dental procedures. Excellent communication skills, both with clients and colleagues. A positive, team-oriented attitude with a strong work ethic. Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Dependable attendance and flexibility to work shifts that support hospital business hours. Familiarity with cloud-based practice management software (e.g., Sheperd) is a plus. Reliable transportation. Willingness to work occasional weekend shifts for boarding services. Why Join Us?
