Essential Job Functions Obtain accurate patient histories and perform physical assessments, recording findings in the medical record. Communicate patient status, concerns, and treatment recommendations with clients, doctors, and hospital staff. Educate clients on preventive healthcare, including core and lifestyle vaccine recommendations, parasite prevention, nutrition, medications, and home care instructions. Demonstrate a strong understanding of canine and feline vaccination protocols and make appropriate lifestyle-based recommendations under veterinarian guidance. Prepare patients for examinations, treatments, diagnostic procedures, and discharge appointments. Collect blood samples using appropriate venipuncture techniques, selecting the best collection method based on the patient and laboratory requirements. Prepare laboratory submissions and complete all required documentation for outside reference laboratories. Administer medications as directed,while following all hospital protocols and understanding appropriate routes of administration and common contraindications. Dispense medications as prescribed by the veterinarian. Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes in patient condition promptly. Admit patients following established hospital protocols. Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked examination rooms, treatment areas, and workspaces. Utilize Cornerstone Practice Management Software accurately and efficiently. Ensure clients understand medications, treatment plans, follow-up care, and monitoring at home. Maintain a thorough understanding of OSHA regulations, workplace safety standards, and hospital protocols. Assist with additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of three years of veterinary experience required. Knowledge of veterinary pharmacology, including common medications, indications, and potential drug interactions. Knowledge of laboratory procedures, specimen handling, and diagnostic imaging. Working knowledge of canine and feline preventive healthcare, including core vaccination schedules, lifestyle vaccine recommendations, parasite prevention, and client education. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for client education. Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Positive attitude, dependable work ethic, and willingness to support teammates. Flexibility and adaptability to changing hospital needs. Proficiency with Cornerstone Practice Management Software preferred. Physical Requirements Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, bend, reach, and move throughout the hospital for extended periods.
