Wallingford Veterinary Hospital is a privately owned, two-doctor small animal practice committed to providing compassionate, high-quality medicine while fostering a supportive and collaborative workplace. We're looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and wants to continue growing professionally alongside an experienced team.
Key Responsibilities :
Obtain accurate patient histories and vital signs. Safely restrain patients for examinations and treatments. Collect blood samples and place IV catheters proficiently. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed. Perform laboratory diagnostics including bloodwork, urinalysis, and cytology preparation. Take high-quality digital radiographs. Perform all aspects of surgical procedures, with primary responsibility for anesthesia induction, monitoring, and patient management, as well as surgical preparation, dental procedures, patient recovery, and pain management. Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate changes in condition. Perform laboratory tests, such as blood work and urinalysis. Take and process radiographs (X-rays). Maintain accurate medical records and update patient information. Educate clients regarding medications, preventive care, nutrition, and home treatment plans. Maintain accurate medical records. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient treatment and surgical area.
Qualifications :
Veterinary Technician Certification/Licensure is required. Ability to monitor anesthesia independently is required. Minimum of 2 years of veterinary technician experience in a small animal practice required. Strong venipuncture and IV catheter placement skills. Comfortable monitoring anesthesia independently. Knowledge of common medications, dosages, and routes of administration. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and client education skills. Positive attitude and willingness to work collaboratively. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely handle animals of all sizes. Pay:
$25.00 - $29.00 per hour
