Position:
Experienced Veterinary Technician Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Veterinary Technician/Nurse to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality veterinary care to our animal patients and ensuring excellent customer service to our clients. As a Veterinary Technician, you will work closely with the veterinarian and other staff members to assist in diagnosing, treating, and monitoring the health of our patients.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist veterinarian in examining, diagnosing, and treating animals.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinarian.
  • Collect and analyze laboratory samples, including blood, urine, and fecal samples.
  • Placing IV catheters and ensuring patency.
  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures, such as X-rays.
  • Assist with surgical procedures, including preparing animals for surgery, monitoring anesthesia, and providing post-operative care.
  • Provide nursing care to hospitalized animals, including administering fluids, medications, and nutrition.
  • Educate pet owners on pet care, including nutrition, behavior, and disease prevention.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and communicate with veterinarians and other staff members about patient care.
  • Assist with inventory management and ordering of medical supplies.
  • Assist cleaning of the clinic at the end of the day.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a veterinary technician program or equivalent experience.
  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or equivalent certification preferred but not required.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Veterinary Technician.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working with all types of animals.
  • Knowledge of animal behavior and basic medical terminology.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish speaking.)
  • Ability to work Saturday (9am-2pm).
